Why Denzel Washington is the ultimate Hollywood Dallas Cowboys fan
Leaders lead from the front
You’ve likely watched a Denzel Washington movie or two in your lifetime. But did you know that he was also a Dallas Cowboys fan? How did he become a fan at such a young age, especially from New York? Almost 6 years ago on the Rich Eisen Show below as a guest, he shared his story of how he became one. What does it take to become the ultimate Hollywood Dallas Cowboys fan then you ask?
Cowboys training camp is just around the corner in Oxnard, CA. This time of year for a small group of Dallas Cowboys fans gets very exciting in July! Next to Al Pacino, Washington is my all-time favorite actor thanks to blockbuster hits like Training Day, Remember the Titans, and Antwone Fisher. Growing up in New York he also played football, and ultimately this is where his story began.
The media have spotted many Hollywood celebrities with their Cowboys gear on. But how many can you say actually drove up the Pacific Coast Highway from the “City of Angels” to Oxnard, CA? Special shout out to the military veterans located there in PT Hueneme. Not many. To be frankly honest many are clout chasing when it comes to America’s Team as a result. That’s why we choose to honor those who come with receipts.

Denzel Washington Hollywood “Boots On Ground” leader
That small group of fans I alluded to that gets excited each July earlier are what I like to call “Boots on Ground” NFL fans. Since ’16 I have focused on featuring fans here that are authentic. Not every celebrity in a Cowboys jersey makes it to our community. This season the Cowboys will be featured on 5 prime-time games, and the fanaticism will be at an all-time high.
As a result, when the Cowboys are winning so is the fan base. That also attracts those in search of clout on social media. While researching Hollywood fans, I found many are “Fakin’ the Funk” on Dem Boys. Take, for example, Snoop Dogg. He has worn all 32 NFL teams. Including the Dallas Cowboys.
These are the types of fans who do shit for clicks and likes. Not the “Boots on Ground” type of fans who are ten toes down annually. On display online and off. Only those built differently, living a permanent lifestyle represent America’s Team. Washington falls into this category thanks to his receipts. Not everyone in Hollywood can also provide this as a “Main Source.”.
“When these celebrities come out, it’s just like these fans coming to see us. The message Denzel had for us was basically creating good habits. If you do things the way you’re supposed to do repeatedly you’re going to create good habits. If you do things bad and not listen to the coaches, you’re going to create bad habits. I think that was a good message spoke to us and it’s something we needed. I think it hit all of us and this is something we going to go about this year.” ~Dez Bryant
Conclusion
When you see Washington with a Yankees cap on it’s likely due to his New York roots. Leaders lead by example and when it comes to Hollywood all others should follow Washington’s lines word for word. Many sites will put a list together of celebrity Dallas Cowboys fans, but leave out the most important research. Are they really even fans or frauds?
Are they truly ten toes down? Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and when it comes to America’s Team many others are in line to claim their 15 minutes of fame. Clout chasing essentially because after all, it’s trendy. We know. Not Washington however his roots can be verified to the very source on the West Coast.
The next time you see a Hollywood celebrity Dallas Cowboys fan ask yourself this question. How do I know they really are who they say they are. Are they just another “Bad Actor?” Because not every fan in a Dallas Cowboys jersey is really DCFL.
