How do I feel about the HIRE?

Charles and I just shared our initial reaction to the SCHOTTY presser in Frisco on Facebook. If you missed it, click here to watch now. What I extrapolated most was “BUY IN” from the organization. BUY IN? What does that mean?

Great question. SCHOTTY is a known commodity in the locker room and the building. On one hand, you can say it’s familiarity. Yes, I see the argument, and I mainly created it. On the other hand, it could be best in year 1. WHY? Relationships.

When I speak for veterans who served in the military, we all understand what it’s like to experience a “CHANGE OF COMMAND.” This means that when one boss leaves, another arrives—often with two different leadership styles.

This could be the sweet spot for our team this season. He already has relationships with players, mainly Dak Prescott. KELZ told me that SCHOTTY would call the shots in 2025 with QB1. His relationships with the Jones family matter, as well as his father’s coaching legacy.

 This will also benefit his relationship with Will McClay in this college recruiting cycle, which begins on January 30th with the East-West Shrine Bowl at AT&T Stadium. Which Cowboys position will the Cowboys draft pick 12 RD1?

RELATIONSHIPS MATTER

This season will teach us whether familiarity can work for us instead of against us. As I shared in the gym today, the rope of familiarity has run itself short. After SCHOTTY, there is no more slack left. His relationship with the Jones family could be the CHANGE AGENT we need for a culture shift on the field of play.

He signed a four-year deal, which means no slack in year 1. Results over excuses. Less talk, more walk. We need to see a new offensive look quickly in game one. I will revisit training camp in Oxnard this fall to share what I have discovered with you. Offensively speaking.
