Why SCHOTTY needs to wave the DISCIPLINE flag immediately in Dallas

Welcome to those of you reading for the first time. If you follow me on Facebook, you’ve likely heard me say that the Cowboys have four different opponents each week. Every NFL team faces them each week. What are they? Great question.

1. Their OPPONENT that week. 

2. The INJURY opponent.

3. The DISCIPLINE opponent.

4. The SPORTSBOOK opponent. 

Mike McCarthy averaged 114 penalties a season during his five-year tenure. This is the first of three exclusive Patreon articles. Today’s is FREE. My two future editions won’t be. I want to address the elephant in the room today: SCHOTTY recently shared that he wants a championship culture in Dallas in his opening presser.

The KC Chiefs, ranked 29th in the league, committed only 94 penalties this regular season. The Eagles, ranked 22nd, committed 103. The Dallas Cowboys, who committed 128 penalties, ranked 4th overall in 2024, according to Statmuse. 

CHANGE AGENT

After news of SCHOTTY’s hiring, I also shared my reaction and thoughts here, FREELY, including the definition of a CHANGE AGENT. The elephant in the room regarding culture currently is DISCIPLINE in Dallas.

How can he change this immediately by waving the DISCIPLINE flag in Frisco? Many Cowboys players attended the SCHOTTY presser, which is a good sign. Only time will tell. Look no further than the two teams playing in New Orleans to get to a championship.

You and I are not the only ones aware of this OPPONENT. The Cowboys are going to need to get their shit together in the DISCIPLINE department. It’s costing us opportunities to defeat the other opponent each week. Numbers don’t lie. Is this our biggest “ISSUE?”

LEAD FROM THE FRONT

SCHOTTY is on a four-year contract. Under McCarthy, the Cowboys were ranked 11th in 2020, 1st in 2021, 9th in 2022, 3rd in 2023, and 4th in 2024 in the penalty department. I will never blame the referees for a game’s outcome. Why?
