“How to Rob” NFL Fans with Curtis Jackson
Controversy Sells
Growing up in the golden age of rap and hip-hop was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for some. For others, you will have to learn more about it on the internet. Which was actually born six years before 50 Cent’s controversial hit single, “How to Rob,” in 1999.
Aimed directly at the hip hop industry.
Here’s what Curtis actually robbed NFL fans of anyway.
“Ayo the bottom line is I’m a crook with a deal
If my record don’t sell I’ma rob and steal.”
Why does this matter to Dallas Cowboys fans? One thing about me is that I love only one NFL team, America’s Team. In September of 2016, Curtis Jackson paid a visit to Jerry’s World in Arlington. Isn’t he a Saints fan now?
Is Curtis a Dallas Cowboys fan? Many are inclined to think so, given the picture above of Dez & Dak taken on gameday vs. the Chicago Bears. Why else would he be there? Promoting controversy? Perception matters. Optics are everything.
Originally born in Queens, New York, 50 stormed onto the music scene with one track that held the entire hip hop industry at gunpoint. How has he remained relevant for 27 years? Curtis went from ROBBING and industry to TROLLING another.
Authenticity Matters
50 Cent’s street credibility score may be 800, but when it comes to loyalty to just one NFL team, he’s lacking. I have a problem with this as an NFL fan who’s only loyal to one team. Curtis understood early on the power of the Star’s brand and targeted his fans within it.
This is a form of niche-down for an entertainer’s overall audience. Not only did he reach Cowboys fans who listened to his music, but it also gave the perception he might be an authentic Dallas Cowboys fan. Increasing their loyalty to his brand.

For some, we do care. The term bandwagon is often applied to fans of America’s Team. These celebrities and entertainers show up only when the team is winning. The opposite of Denzel Washington.
I’m no 50 Cent hater either. Dude has inspired and taught me a lot about selling controversy. His TROLLING skills are impeccable and timely. I often say that not every Dallas Cowboys fan who wears merchandise is DC4L. All others are just impostors.

I jumped off the porch and into the trenches with America’s Team in October 2016. A few weeks earlier, 50 showed up at Jerry’s World. Since then, I have been blogging about Cowboys fans on the only blog supported by authentic fans, Official America’s Team.
Anyone who supports my Patreon content should know your support helps keep the lights on each month. Thank you. Since 2016, you’ve kept them on. I wanted to start with the most notorious internet troll today first. He kept Diddy’s receipts, I kept Fiddy’s. Touche, Curtis.
The deeper the loyalty, the deeper the deception. What did 50 actually rob NFL fans of anyway? Loyalty. When you’re loyal to one NFL team, you don’t like bandwagon and fake ass fans claiming your team. Saints, you can have HIM. Our team may have finished 7-9-1, but I assure you that in 2026, the outcome will be different.
